My drive in life

Someone asked me what is my drive in life, what motivates me now that I am joining the Financial Advisory Industry when there is so much competition going on right now.

If I say that Monetary Gain is not one of my drive, I will be lying.

After collecting my thoughts , I realized that my main drive for me in this industry is to help people to plan for their future in terms of the Finance area. Knowing that Finance planning is important for everyone and differs from each individual as their abilities and needs varies.

Perhaps another cause is that I am a real life example that benefited from a good Finance Planning? 

Well I mean my Father, me and my sibling I guess. My late-mum passed away from Stomach Cancer and it was a tremendous strain to my Father in terms of Finance and Mental stress as she contracted it when I was only 3 years old and my sibling was just a few months old.

As you all know hospital fees are really expensive especially when you have to go for chemotherapy and even though my Mum have a sum of savings, medisave, government aid, it wasnt enough to cover the hospital fees too. Fortunately she did buy her Health Insurance which helps to cover a portion of the costs. Unfortunately, as the illness was discovered too late, my mum did not managed to win the battle against Cancer and succumbs to it. 

My Father was obviously devastated and fell deep into depression and isolation which meant he left his company as he wasnt able to work as he need to take care of me and my sibling too. Which means there is a major loss of income as he is now the sole provider for the household.

But my Mum did brought life insurance so there was a sum payout and he used it to sustain the household and also to set up his own business so that he can take care of his childrens while working and it turn out well as he was able to provide for us till now so I guess all is well now.

This make me realise the importance of Wealth Planning in case of any accidents. Should my Mum did not buy any insurance policy for me and my Father. I dont think our financial health situation will be well and I doubt I will be able to attend school till Tietiary level too. I dare not think of what will be of my family if there was no Financial Planning from my Late mum.

And that's I guess my main drive to be in this industry. To enact the importancy of  Financial Planning into the mindset of everyone and to assist with the Planning of it too.
